EAK Thick Film Planar Power Resistor System Thermal Management and Installation Instructions

The thick film planar power resistor products produced by EAK use a planar base plate for heat dissipation. By mounting on the user’s system heat sink, they can quickly dissipate the heat generated by the resistor during operation, achieving ultra-high load power.

The actual load power that EAK resistors can achieve depends on the thermal efficiency of the system. It can be evaluated by monitoring the equilibrium temperature at the center position of the resistor's base plate. When selecting a resistor, it is recommended to combine the heat dissipation system design with simulation (thermal simulation) to choose a suitable heat dissipation system (such as air cooling, water cooling, etc.) based on different load powers.

Resistor Installation Instructions: a. Heat Sink Selection: Flatness < 0.05mm, Roughness < 6.4μm; b. Thermal Grease:Thermal conductivity > 1W/(m*K) c. Before installing the resistor, ensure that the heat sink mating surface is free of particulate impurities. The thermal grease must be stirred evenly before use. It is recommended to use a roller coating or screen printing method to apply the thermal grease evenly with a thickness requirement of 0.03~0.05mm. If the resistor needs to be reinstalled, the surface must be cleaned thoroughly before applying new thermal grease. d. Choose screws of the appropriate size and do not exceed the maximum torque allowed by the resistor.

The resistor chip is made of alloy foil resistor material and is suitable for low resistance ranges. It features a low temperature coefficient and super strong pulse withstand capability. It is applied in fields such as automatic control of transmissions, power supply, and control equipment.
